Andrew Gary
What are you doing now?
I currently work as a research fellow for Jones Mandel and am finishing up my final semester of my MPH program at UNC Gillings. As a research fellow, I support the work of the firm by conducting research for clients. I am also involved in local politics, and helped manage three local town council campaigns this past election cycle.
How has the Fellowship impacted your career?
Taking part in the Fellowship helped my career from the mentorship I received to the insight into current issues we gained from listening to the interesting speakers at the conference to meeting other students who are highly interested in government. However, the biggest impact I’ve seen so far is that I was able to be published through the Fellowship.
What is your favorite memory from the Fellowship?
My favorite memory from the Fellowship was the poster presentation at the leadership conference. There, I was able to present my research on FEMA and how it could be restructured. I also enjoyed seeing everyone else’s research; I was able to learn a lot about so many areas that were interesting to me.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be a Congressional Chief of Staff. This is my goal because I want to be involved in government at the federal level and have a more direct impact. I would also enjoy this job because of being able to support an elected official and a team of dedicated staff in addressing issues facing the American people.
