Special Assistant to Rear Admiral Susan Blumenthal
Elena joined the Center in June 2011 as a Health Policy Research Associate and Special Assistant to Rear Admiral Susan Blumenthal, MD, MPA, the Center’s Senior Advisor for Health and Medicine. She currently helps coordinate the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Aetna Foundation supported grant Improving Nutrition in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Elena graduated from Yale University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Health Policy. At Yale, she worked at the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity studying menu labeling, food marketing and other anti-obesity interventions. Elena was also coordinator of the student group Yale Public Health Coalition and an executive committee member of Dwight Hall, the nation’s largest student-run non-profit. She has interned at a variety of health organizations including The William J. Clinton Foundation, The Argentine Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Kaiser Permanente.
