Matt Purushotham

Director of Programs

Matt Purushotham is Director of Programs at CSPC, where he oversees all program activity and works with the Director of Development to align program priorities and fundraising activities. 

He co-directs the Center’s Global Financial Contingencies Group, which brings together government officials, financial market players, and other experts to examine various geopolitical scenarios and the effect they could have on the global economy. He also focuses on selected domestic issues, including Education, Religion in Public Life and Fiscal Policy, as well as U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and South Asia.

Matt joined the Center in November 2007 and has managed a number of projects areas. As Director of International Projects, he oversaw the Center's projects focused on foreign policy and international partnerships. During this time Matt was also co-Director of the Strengthening America's Future Initiative (SAFI) and served as staff coordinator for the SAFI Finance, Economics and Trade, Budget and Taxes, and Small and Mid-size Business issue teams. He led a delegation of U.S. science, health and diplomacy experts to Syria as Director of the U.S.-Syrian Dialogue. Previously, he served as Director of the Center’s Presidential Fellows Program and as a Research Associate.

Before joining the Center, Matt worked at Trinity Wall Street in New York City, where he worked on Trinity's strategic plan, community service and community partnerships, and writing and research in the Human Resources Department. He received a Master's degree in Public Affairs Journalism from American University's School of Communication in 2005 and a Bachelor's degree in Asian Studies from Trinity College, Connecticut, in 2001.
