Dr. Vita C. Tauss, Ed.D., is Professor Emerita and Dean (Ret.) of Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York , where she served from 1970-l991. As senior adviser/negotiator for University policy planning and implementation in all areas of community college management, Tauss shared her expertise at the state, national and international levels. She introduced the community college concept in Poland in the 1990s and more recently in Iraq; she toured southern Italy and Sicily in Governor Mario Cuomo's Magna Grecia delegation, examining areas of NYS-Italy relationships; she served the U.S. Department of Education, reviewing and recommending college grant proposals for USDE funding; she was appointed by the NYS Commissioner of Education to oversee resolution of Scelsa v. CUNY; she also served the CUNY Chancellor in designing programs to implement federal affirmative action policy on campuses. Tauss earned her doctorate from New York University in Psychology/Conflict Resolution.
