As an international consultant, Ms. Hong Le Webb combines her expertise in international transactions, financial services, corporate securities law and regulatory matters with her lifelong interaction with East and Southeast Asia. She is formerly Of Counsel to the law firm of Dykema Gossett, PLLC, in Washington, DC. An attorney with long experience in global mergers, acquisitions and securities work as well as global human resources, pension and benefits programs, Webb's practice focused on international business expansions, operations and transactions. Webb was born in Vietnam, where at the age of seven her family escaped on a boat after the communist takeover of the south. After living in two refugee camps, her family settled in New Orleans. While in grade school Webb was selected to attend Benjamin Franklin High School, the city's magnet high school. Receiving a full academic scholarship to the University of Michigan's Asian Studies Program, she graduated with distinction, having attained fluency in Mandarin Chinese. While in college she also worked as a legal interpreter in cases involving Vietnamese-language litigants. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Webb worked in Hong Kong for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, assisting in the monitoring, interviews, and counseling of Vietnamese asylum seekers in Hong Kong's refugee camps. She then attended Cornell Law School, graduating in 1993, and serving as an editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy and a member of the Briggs Society of International Law. Webb is fluent in Vietnamese, retains good knowledge of Mandarin Chinese, and is conversational in French.
