One Nation: Recapturing
America's Spirit of Unity

In 2011, CSPC partnered with the National Cathedral and Mount Vernon to produce a short film to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks.  This video looks at the impact of the attacks on our sense of national unity and the founding tradition of religious tolerance that has defined the United States throughout its history.  It also explores how this tradition was typified by the memorial service held on September 14th at the National Cathedral, but how recent years have seen a breakdown in Americans’ commitment to religious pluralism, especially in the case of American Muslims.

The video includes interviews with CSPC President Ambassador David Abshire; Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, who presided with clergy of other faiths during the September 14th service; Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Togo West, who led the inquiry into the tragic Ft. Hood shootings; and several other religious, political and cultural leaders

CSPC hopes that as Americans reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001, they remember the unity that was forged in the wake of the tragedy and how it, not the divisions that have arisen since, best reflects the spirit America’s founders had in mind.
