In 1986, President Ronald Reagan worked with Congressional Democrats and Republicans to pass tax reform that revitalized the economy and laid the groundwork for one of the longest and widespread economic booms in U.S. history. Today, in a time of uneven economic growth and debate about our long-term fiscal health, our economy needs such a genuine, long-lasting boost, and reforming our tax system, with an eye towards growth and competitiveness, provides a great place to start.

For this reason, CSPC has been examaning the obstacles that prevent tax reform from moving forward, and ways in which Congress can utilize the lessons of the 1986 tax reform process to reform our modern tax system.
