In CNN.com's May 14, 2013 Gut Check column, a CSPC case study on Presidential Second terms by political scientist John P. Burke was quoted on the effect of the three recent scandals (Benghazi, IRS, and the Associated Press) on Obama's second term agenda.
From the article: "A president's second term 'is likely to be an uphill road,' Burke writes, and one 'not particularly well marked for historical success.'
The issue for Obama, as is the case with most second term presidents, is the timing of such controversies. As Burke told Gut Check, Obama's power only wanes from this point on."

CSPC Director of Policy Dan Mahaffee Quoted in the Wall Street Journal on George W. Bush Presidential Center
In an April 24, 2013 Wall Street Journal article on the digital archive of internal White House emails housed at the newly opened George W. Bush Presidential Library, CSPC Director of Policy Dan Mahaffee is quoted on the implications of archived presidential email messages. While emails from Bush's presidency may give historians unprecedented access to the thought process behind his and future presidential decision-making, Mahaffee notes of that the importance of these records are hindered by the fact that, "the President rarely emails."

Former CSPC Presidential Fellow Named COO of NYC's Department of Education
Andrew Buher, a CSPC Presidential Fellow from the 2006-2007 Fellows class, was named Chief Operating Officer of New York City's Department of Education on April 15, 2013. Buher attended Rider University, where he was the first Rider student to represent the college in CSPC's Presidential Fellows program.

CSPC's 46th Annual Awards Dinner was featured in The Hill's "In the Know" column on April 9, 2013. The piece highlights Senator John Warner's comments about Publius Award recipient Senator Bob Corker's affinity for charts and visual aids. Senator Warner recounteda trick to keep meetings with Senator Corker shorter: “You soon learned to bring him to your office because he could only carry so many carts [piled with charts] up there. But if you went to his office, he had all the extra charts. So it tended to be a little longer.”
