Mr. Dan Mahaffee

Mr. Mahaffee coordinates the Center’s policy priorities and research, as well as relations with the 30-member Board of Trustees. Mr. Mahaffee is responsible for the Center’s work in terms of its long-term national strategy program, Vision 2020, and national security, and develops op-eds, essays, and presentations regarding CSPC’s policy programs, including current work on cybersecurity, tax reform, government reform, and international relations. In addition to his responsibilities at CSPC, he is a director at the Chicago-area Dr. Scholl Foundation.

He is currently enrolled in the Georgetown Center for Security Studies Master’s Degree program, and he graduated from Georgetown University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government with an emphasis on international relations and security studies, with minors in Mandarin Chinese and History.  He also studied at the East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, where he conducted advanced language studies and research on U.S.-China-Taiwan trilateral relations. As a 2008-2009 CSPC Presidential Fellow, he examined and compared the ratification efforts of the Versailles and North Atlantic Treaties. Mr. Mahaffee previously served as an intern for Representative Mark Kirk (IL-10).  

His work has been published in POLITICO, Real Clear Religion, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and the CSPC Fellows Review. He has also contributed to articles in the Wall Street Journal, on the Bloomberg and Xinhua Wire Services, and appeared on Dunay News (Pakistan) and France 24 TV.
