Former U.S. Congressman Dan Maffei joins CSPC as Senior Fellow

THE HONORABLE DAN MAFFEI JOINS CSPC AS A SENIOR FELLOW
Washington D.C. - The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) is pleased to announce that the Honorable Daniel B. Maffei has joined CSPC as a Senior Fellow.
Maffei joins a distinguished group of Fellows whose members include: Frank Cilluffo (Associate Vice President, The George Washington University); James Kitfield (Senior Correspondent, National Journal); Egil Krogh (Former Under Secretary of Transportation); Norman Ornstein (Resident Scholar, American Enterprise Institute); and Dale Petroskey (President & CEO, Dallas Regional Chamber). Maffei served as a member of the United States House of Representatives during the 111th and 113th Congresses. He has served on four influential House committees: Armed Services, Financial Services, Judiciary, and Science, Space & Technology. On the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Intelligence, Emerging Threats and Capabilities, Maffei worked to improve the military’s capacity to defend the country from terrorist and cyber security threats. He helped secure several provisions in Armed Services reauthorization bills to support the military’s access to new and better technologies. Maffei was also a leading advocate in the Congress for increased Federal support for basic scientific and technology research. He was the Ranking Member of the Science, Space & Technology Subcommittee on Oversight.
Previous to his time as an elected member of Congress, Maffei served as a senior communications and policy aide on the Democratic staff of the House Ways and Means Committee and as the top communications staffer and press secretary for the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Senator Bill Bradley.
His extensive media experience also includes several years of television reporting and producing for network affiliates in Upstate New York. His private sector background includes work as a senior policy advisor for Manatt, Phelps, Phillips, LLP, and experience as an executive in a Central New York based investment advisory firm.
Maffei is married to Abby Davidson Maffei, a senior staff member at the international humanitarian organization CARE. They have one daughter.
