CSPC Director of Policy Dan Mahaffee is quoted in a piece on FoxNews.com on the history of Presidential pardons and modern presidents' reluctance to use them. Speaking of the perilous nature of the use of pardons, Mahaffee uses the example of President Ford's pardoning of Nixon saying, “That was a lightening rod. It was likely the right thing to do in terms of the nation healing quickly. But it hurt his presidency.”
