Matthew Hunter currently serves as the principal and owner of MFHunter Strategies, a communications, political consulting, and government affairs firm and a partner in A2 Partners, LLC, a data analytics firm. A2, using unstructured and structured data, provides partners with actionable data intelligence in support of strategic communication, message strategy, and voter turnout.
Hunter previously worked with McKenna and Associates, in Arlington, VA, as well as with Susan G. Komen for the Cure as a strategic consultant; he also served as a fundraiser and consultant for the 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida.
In the 2010 election cycle, Hunter consulted on a number of targeted House and Senate campaigns including Marco Rubio’s successful campaign for the US Senate. Prior to that Hunter served as Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to Senator Mel Martinez (FL) in his capacity as General Chairman of the Republican National Committee. Between 2005 and 2007 Hunter served as the Deputy Chief of Staff and State Director for Senator Mel Martinez; he also spent a period as his Acting Chief of Staff in Washington, D.C.
Prior to his service with Senator Martinez, Hunter served in the Executive Branch as an Associate Political Director at the White House from 2003 to 2005, and as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and the White House Liaison at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from 2001 to 2003.
Before arriving at HUD in 2001, Hunter worked on the presidential transition team for the White House Political Affairs office. During the 2000 election campaign and the Florida recount, he was the Central Florida Field Director for Bush-Cheney 2000.
Hunter received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and holds a Masters Degree in International Business from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He is also a graduate of Leadership Florida, Class XXV. When not working, he is an avid Phillies fan, fly-fisher and golfer. Originally from Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, he resides in Washington, D.C. and Orlando, Florida.
