Former Ambassador to the Holy See
The Honorable Francis L. Rooney is the CEO of Rooney Holdings, Inc., and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Helmerich & Payne, Inc., Vetra Energy Group, the Trust for the National Mall, and the Advisory Board to the Panama Canal Authority. From mid-2005 until 2008, he served as the United States Ambassador to the Holy See, appointed by President George W. Bush. Rooney serves on a number of Advisory Boards, including the University of Notre Dame, and was appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush to the Florida Committee of 100. From 1991-1999 Ambassador Rooney was a Director of the Young Presidents Organization, and served as International President from 1997-1998. He also serves as a Trustee to the Naples Community Hospital Healthcare System and the Naples Children & Education Foundation in Florida. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Georgetown University in 1975 and graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1978 and is a member of the District of Columbia and Texas Bars.
